The war of the Spanish succesion that faced European powers for dominance of the continent, ended with the Treaty of Utrecht and the enthronement of Bourbon, Duke of Anjou, as King of Spain. The war in the Iberian peninsula lasted for a few years, because the territories of the Crown of Aragon, didn't recognize Philip V, who wanted to eliminate their historic rights.
In this context, the Regiment of Sant Narcís, was established. It was formed by Catalan soldiers and the rest of the Gabriel Kaulbars regiment, Austrian, formed by the German troops that had been quartered in Girona.
The St. Narcís regiment, participated actively during the siege of Barcelona, with special value, during the defense of the bastion of Santa Ana.
After the entry of the Bourbon troops in Barcelona, the Catalan institutions ceased to exist and the people suffered great repression. This happened 300 years ago.

The figure is a Line Infantry Regiment soldier who fought for the rights of Catalonia, fits in the Catalan army about September 1714. It is a 70mm figure molded by Oriol Quin. I saw the master, and I loved it, but it has not been until now that I had the pleasure of painting it. Although I could have painted it in any colour of the uniforms of the Catalan regiments, I've chosen the uniform of the St. Narcís regiment because this is the one most attractive for me.

Canadian M113a1 in West Germany

This is the latest finished model.
This is a Canadian M113A1 during the Reforger NATO exercises in the early 80 in West Germany.
Reforger exercise (REturn FOrces to GErmany) was  an annual exercise conducted, during the Cold War, by NATO. The exercise was intended to ensure that NATO had the ability to quickly deploy forces o West Germany in the event of a conflict with the Warsaw Pact.

This is a mechanized artillery maintenance vehicle of "Royal canadian horse artillery", in this case under the 4CMBG 1st Battalion (4th Canadian Mechanized Brigade group).

These are the pictures I took as reference. Caught my attention the orange color which was used to distinguish the side "aggressor" during exercises.
When I finished painting the model, I had my doubts about the dirty. I didn't want to get to the end of the vehicle from the photograph on the left, but I could not leave a clean vehicle.

For the color, the resultant may seem different. Although it is partly due to my photo camera, there were many varieties in shades of camouflage.
Especially in the early 80s, lived together vehicles with the initial colors and the late colors. The vehicle that I wanted to represent, intended to be a veteran M113 of the 70 decade.  This vehicle enjoy the good maintenance of modern vehicles.

Colores de camuflaje a mediados de los 80
Camouflage colors in the mid of 80s
Colores del camuflaje a finales de los 70
Camouflage colors in the mid of 70s

I don't like to finish a vehicle without including a figure. I think a human figure is the perfect reference for any scale model viewer.

Now it's time for the dust and dry mud!

This is the current appearance of the vehicle before the dust stage. I'm a little bit confused about the level of dust. I've seen a lot of pictures of canadian vehicles during REFORGER exercices. The level of dust and mud could be extreme! I don't want to dirty too much the vehicle but who knows the definitive appearance...

Base colour done...ready for fun!!

Well, the base color is done.
Thanks a lot to Chriss Jerrett, Oscar Ebrí and Rubén Torregrosa for their advices about the color. This scheme was very complicated for me because my poor experience in this kind of projects but finally I'm glad with the result!

The current model looks like a toy but I've done some test with filters and oils in a dummy and the result looks very close to the real vehicle:

And the current look:
